If you have a body like Christiano Ronaldo or Hritik Roshan, the below information is not for you!

For all the rest, who occasionally, regularly, ardently seek out information on health hacks and diets that can get them in shape quickly. Let's understand the history and science behind them.

I am sure most of us can relate to the title image in some fashion even today!

But as history often goes, it starts in the west.

“Bant Diet” was one of the first diets that became popular in the UK in the early 19th century. Banting was an astute and active carpenter, eager to shed a few pounds. Along with his doctor, he came up with a diet that worked, it consisted of four meals per day, consisting of meat, greens, fruits, and dry wine. The emphasis was on avoiding sugar, sweet foods, starch, beer, milk and butter. Banting's pamphlet was popular for years to come.

Coupled with an exercise regime, it took Banting more than five months to lose around 14 kgs. He continued on this regime throughout his life to be around this healthy weight till his passing.

In the post-mobile era where sedentary lifestyle dominates the social milieu and the question is on “Which Netflix series should I binge on tonight?”

Increasing physical activity, changing diet and at the same time fighting our own body to shed those stubborn love handles and urges to eat fatty foods has made long term sustainable weight loss almost a dream of the yore!

I have friends who still look at their 10 year-apart “Before” and “After” photos adoringly and with a sigh, resign to their metabolic fate of a steady paunch.

The inviting sheen of a fad diet that promises a few weeks to shed multiple kilos and make us go back to our best shapes is a lure few can resist.

After trysts with Atkin, GM and numerous cycles of keto diets, many like me sigh and “adapt” to our metabolic fates.

It's a well known fact that if you increase your physical activity level (start brisk walking for 15-20 minutes a day out of your IPL time), the body starts demanding more food intake.

We know - EAT LESS, BURN MORE! But how do we fight against our own body?

This has been the journey of the human paunch from ancient paleolithic times to the recent mobile era.

Enter Science.

In the last 4-5 years modern science has made considerable progress in understanding how our digestive systems work and what makes it tick. Companies like Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly have made path breaking discoveries with drugs that help us reduce our appetite and promote better metabolism.

Ozempic, Wegovy…..naam toh suna hoga!

They allow us a small window of opportunity to easily shape our own bodies, be the master of our appearance and look back through our mirror past to once again see the silhouette of our old self in our present cameras 🙂

At Elevate Now, we have combined medicines and lifestyle interventions to come up with a unique solution that works for 100% of our users. We take away the need for extraordinary willpower and systematically build on easy to do activities to make them an integral part of your daily habits in a period of 9-12 months.

I am going to end this monologue with a quote from our Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Neeta Deshpande “There is a scientific way to lose weight easily, systematically and permanently.”
